In today’s business climate, technology plays a significant role in just about every company. To efficiently operate a company good computer software is essential. Some companies can operate with minimal software needs, but all companies can benefit from a good collection of software that can reliably perform the required tasks. Small and start up companies can benefit from solid software, but many can’t afford the extreme prices of some of the business class software. This fact does not mean that they can’t get the software needed to increase productivity, produce professional results and ultimately increase profits; but it will require a bit of research and a degree of creativity. Please understand, business class software is generally, more robust and can often perform multiple tasks, but in spite of this fact, there is a universe of totally free software that is more than sufficient to handle the needs of small business, home-based and start-up enterprises. I will attempt to highlight some of these FREE applications in this post and will continue to highlight FREE software in weekly posts.

Zotero is an easy-to-use yet powerful research tool that helps you gather, organize, and analyze sources (citations, full texts, web pages, images, and other objects), and lets you share the results of your research in a variety of ways. Zotero integrates tightly with online resources; it can sense when users are viewing a book, article, or other object on the web, and—on many major research and library sites—find and automatically save the full reference information for the item in the correct fields. Since it lives in the web browser, it can effortlessly transmit information to, and receive information from, other web services and applications; since it runs on one’s personal computer, it can also communicate with software running there.DOWNLOAD / MOREINFO
